Abrexa

Character from an original setting D20 Game.

Name:  Abrexa

Apparent Age: 17

Actual Age: over 2,000 years old.  Has been frozen in ice for all but 17 years of that.

Eyes:  Glacial Blue

Hair:  Long, flowing white

Height:  5'10"

Class:  Frost Mage

Setting:  Original setting: "Beastworld."  A world that, over two thousand years ago, was a relatively normal Bronze-age setting.  Some sort of rift to the wildlands opened, spilling forth feral energy into the world and changing all of the humans essentially into Anthros (in more than just appearance - each individual maintains a careful balance between their human and bestial natures).  The human past has been completely forgotten.

Race:  Anthropomorphic Arctic Wolf

Who Abrexa Knows: Timothy (Skunk bard), Vasile (Silver fox assassin), Urick (bear barbarian/protector)

General Appearance/Attitude:

Abrexa is a tall and solidly built female white wolf anthro.  Her stance is digitigrade, and she has pink pads on her hands and feet (her nose is black, however).  Her eyes are a striking glacial blue, her hair is long, flowing and white, as is her thick fur.  Eventually, in the campaign, her fur will take on a frosted-look, as if covered in snow, with deep glacial blue shadows.  She will seem to radiate a coldness.
She generally dresses in blue fantasy-ish clothing of fairly simple design, but elegant patterns.

Background in BRIEF:

Abrexa was born well over two thousand years before the current game time, well before the feral influences came to the land.  She was a human girl, daughter to a high priest in a very Mayan-like society called Imerya.  The society worshipped the Sun god, Imryu and glorified all things associated with the day, the sun, fire, and other life-giving properties which was represented by a hawk.  However, Abrexa was "gifted" with natural spellcasting, something which the religion associated with the nemesis of their god: the female goddess of the night, winter, magick (and who was represented by a wolf).  She kept her magic a secret, but did not feel it was evil.  Her memories are fuzzy as to what specifically happened, but her magic was discovered and shunned by the society, and she was subjected to the punishment of all arcane magic users/followers of the Goddess of the night: to be sealed in a cave entombed in ice (away from the sun, and metaphorically locking them away from the afterlife.)  Most citizens in Imerya were cremated upon death: returned by fire to the sky and the Sun God.  However, while this ritual is well-known to be a fatal punishment, something kept her alive, cryogenically frozen in ice, until her discovery thousands of years later.
Before her entombment, Abrexa had olive skin like most of her people, blue eyes, but unusually bright blonde hair.  This, ironically, was viewed as a good omen by her people and she was expected to join the priestesses.

When she awoke, she was in captivity in a huge Ivory city - and not being well taken care of.  She couldn't speak the language, and was terrified - not only surrounded by animal-people, but one herself... even worse: a Wolf, the symbol of the evil goddess to her culture.  She views what happened as a grave punishment: she has a hard time keeping warm since being thawed out, usually shivering cold, her magic has been tainted by the stay in the ice: all of her magic has some sort of frosty or ice effect, and she looks like a wolf.  The message, to her, couldn't be clearer.  That and the fact that her captor was abusive only further put her into this mindset.

She was freed by Vasile, who was subsequently exiled from the city for slaying his master - the one who held Abrexa.  They fled the ivory city together (Abrexa gaining a language charm) and have been traveling the lands, meeting a few other companions along the way.

Mostly standard adventures have occurred since then - omens have foretold of them making some sort of great contribution or discovery.  Abrexa HAS however learned one important piece of information in her journeys: That the god villanized by her culture, long before her time, was worshipped along side Imryu as a dichotomy power - a yin/yang type of set up.  There were two sects of priests however, and the followers of Imryu became greedy for power in the culture, and set up a vilification of the other sect.  This came as quite a shock to her, and nearly completely recentered her view of her place in life - and perhaps to rediscover the actual beliefs of the Goddess her people villianized.

Personality:

Overcoming insecurities, defiant towards (many) who think she’s crazy for many reasons – recently revived from being frozen in a magical slumber for a very long time – hazy memories.  A bit impetuous, and a bit haughty.   She still has insecurity issues from her new form, adjusting to the society, and her very negative first experience after reawakening.  She also tends to be rather "racist": she was once human and views everyone as "animal people" (even though most of the anthros don't - they are People, and very different from animals in their own opinion).  She also makes stereotypes based on the animals that they represent - finding, for example, the concept of a cat person working with a rat person to be highly amusing.

Magic:

Abrexa has a vareity of cold/ice based magics, as well as a few of the "basic useful spells" of a D&D sorceror, like Sleep, Magic armour, detect magic, illusionary images, etc.
