How to explain
To the ears of a child
A night so painful
Yet, pasionate and wild
How could she explain
That she lived in fear
Of the painful knowledge
A son she would not rear
The pain of losing every litter
Save a one girl pup
To help against despair
Of nearly giving up
The pain of this secret
Held so very long
Now she must acnowledge
Keeping the secret is wrong.
