Gaia Name: Sseureoji Sin
There was a soft, sighing wind that rolled over the small
port as the young man watched the water. Deep blue eyes that seemed to mirror
the deeper parts of the lagoon within the small key swept over it with an
almost melancholy humor as he walked along the sandy ground. The sight of a
small conch shell peeking out of the sand piqued his curiosity. The boys steps
were sturdy though somewhat dragging as he approached the shell. Kneeling down,
he picked it up and turned it around noticing that it was practically perfect
with few chips. He smiled in glee at the discovery and thought that it was
probably one of the best treasures that he'd ever found. Running back towards
his home he could think of nothing but to show his father.
Along the way, he turned a corner and immediately fell
back as he impacted something, a small oomph sound mimicking his as he landed
on the ground. Looking in front of him, he noticed that there was a boy about
his age, he blinked and spoke in a rather typically childish manner and quietly
greeted the other, "Hello." It was a rather shy greeting as he
clutched the shell to his chest.
The other young man looked at him while he was rubbing
the smarting are of his ass, he had landed rather roughly. His hair was also
blonde in color, but rather than the vibrant almost golden blonde of the boy he
looked at, his own was pale blonde, straight rather than wavy. He promptly
stood up and with a childish flair, bowed. The action was stiff but fluid as
his upper body dipped in a reply, "Hello, I am Ambrose Maurlias. It is a
pleasure to make your acquaintence."
Quietly, the other boy sort of stammered out as he stood,
"G-Gino...Gambino." He seemed very nervous around the other boy,
mainly because he didn't interact with too many people, and didn't know how
best to handle meeting a new person without all of the formality that came with
the parties that his father threw.
Ambrose extended a hand to Gino. At first he just looked
at it a moment before tentatively extending his own, letting
the other boy take his in hand and shaking it. His touch was cool and
dry, unlike Gino's whose had been nervous and slightly damp due to nervousness.
Ambrose smiled then started when he looked at the item that Gino had been
holding against his chest, "What a neat shell! Where did you find
it?" The blue eyes lit up with a curiosity and amazement at the sight of
the item.
Gino looked down at the shell and looked out over the
beach before pointing to the area where he found it. Stepping back as Ambrose
approached him again.
A small hand stretched out as if in request as Ambrose
expressed his request in the gesture, he wanted to hold it, to look at it. He
had never seen such a perfect conch before.
Watching from inside of the rather large house, a man
with severe features and golden hair that was reflected on Gino's head observed
the two boys while having a meeeting in his office. How had he gotten away from
his governess? And who was this other boy?
He didn't think about it very long before returning to
his business at hand.
Gino tentatively extended his arms, both hands holding
the shell as he offered it to Ambrose. "Okay, but don't break it." He
watched the other boy accept the shell and handle it just as carefully as he
had, though he turned it over and examined it more. There was some wearing of
the color, but the pearlescent inside hadn't been worn at all. Instead it shone
in the sunlight that blanketed over the island, sparking various colors, almost
teasing to the eye. Pinks, blues, teals, greens, all
different and each holding its own appeal.
Ambrose nodded when he was told not to break it, simply
smiling and laughing quietly, "I will be very careful, it's far too nice
to break."
Both of the boys admired it as Ambrose turned it around
in his hands. It was a rather large shell, almost as large as either of their
heads. Gino watched Ambrose a moment before looking away and speaking quietly,
"You..want to go on a boat?" He hadn't had a
friend before but he'd wondered about what he had been missing, so he extended
the only possible fun thing that he could think of.
Ambrose looked over at the pier and nodded almost
exhuberantly. Handing the shell back to Gino, he grinned and poised himself to
begin running. "Last one there is a rotten egg!" At which point he
immediately took off in a rather healthy sprint towards where the boats were
docked.
Gino looked surprised when the shell was handed so
quickly back to him, blinking when he heard Ambrose's words. Once they sank in,
he laughed and began to run quickly with the shell still held to his chest. He
closed in on Ambrose towards the end, and they were neck and neck until Ambrose
fell back a bit with a smile.
He slowed his pace finally once Gino reached the dock,
laughing as he caught up, "Looks like I lost. Good race." The
tow-headed boy offered his hand in a shake, taking up one of Gino's in a
pleasant hold before shaking it firmly and heading to a boat.
Gino blinked, then smiled and shoot his hand firmly
before hopping onto one of the boats and waving to the crew members as they
greeted him. Sitting down on a ledge, it was a rather nice one.
Ambrose whistled as he climbed onto the craft, looking
down into the water as small fish swam around. "Wow, this is great."
He began pointing out fish with an excitement and pride, knowing the names of a
couple of them.
Gino sat back and listened, looking down when appropriate
with a smile as he spoke. If he gained a friend today, he would be happy.
One of the crew asked if they wanted to sail a bit, and
Ambrose piped up with excitement, "Can we?" turning baby blue eyes to
Gino.
He smiled and nodded, holding onto his shell without a
word. He was having fun. Looking over the water he curled around the shell
while speaking, looking at Ambrose. "What kinds of things do you like to
do for fun?"
They went on talking about the things they liked until
the days length began to wane, the sun setting slowly over the horizon. The
older man looked down to the docks where he saw his son smiling and handing the
other little boy a rather large conch shell, one as large as their heads before
he turned and ran home. The surroundings were quiet, a gentle breeze from the
ocean danced lightly across the land, cooling the warmth of the day slowly
while playing with the trees around the land.
The scene played out as the boys returned ashore, Gino
fingering the shell gingerly as Ambrose bid his farewell, he took a slow step
forward before speaking quietly, "Ambrose?"
The other boy turned, hearing his name with a smile,
"I had fun, I hope we can meet again some
time."
Gino nodded and smiled a bit, approaching Ambrose before
holding out the shell to him. Ambrose looked at the shell and blinked, not
quite understanding as he'd been told that Gino was going to give it to his father.
The boy looked at the other quietly, curiously. He spoke then, "I want you
to have this, to show how much fun I had today."
Reaching for the shell and accepting it, Ambrose smiled
and held it close before nodding and turning, moving for his home while Gino
waved then turned, running to his house. Bounding steps lead him up to the door
and through it, running through the house and searching for his father. Room by
room he went until he finally found him standing near the window in his office.
He hadn't really moved since he noticed Gino with Ambrose down on the beach.
Turning when he entered, he smiled at his son rather
warmly. "You seem happy." his father caught him up as Gino ran
towards him to hug him.
"Yes father, I have a friend."
